‘A House on 41st Street’ opens in Iran cinemas

Iranian movie ‘A House on 41st Street’ premieres at Iran cultural center.

First public screening for social film ‘A House on 41st Street’ is held at a cultural center in Iranian capital city of Tehran.

The opening of the film was held on Sunday at Eivan Shams Complex based in Tehran with noted Iranian director and Oscar winner Asghar Farhadi in attendance.

 During the ceremony, Farhadi with whom the director of the movie collaborated in a cinematic project said 'A House on 41st Street' is a human film, adding that the filmmaker does not pass any judgment prior to the audience in the movie.

‘A House on 41st Street’ has received a review from renowned US Entertainment Magazine Hollywood Reporter which described the cast of the film as “well-directed.” The review also noted “Morteza’s young widow Forough (Mahnaz Afshar) is the most prominent character and the angriest.”

The disintegration of a middle-class family over a murder committed by a brother due to a bounced check, the piece says on the storyline of Hamid-Reza Ghorbani’s film, adding that 'A House on 41st Street' is a drama with a simple start and gradually moves into complex psychology and morality.

‘A House on 41st Street’ was selected to participate in the 40th São Paulo International Film Festival, Brazil. The film was also present in Cannes Film Market 2016.

Notable among the cast are Mahnaz Afshar and Ali Mosaffa.
